Welcome to the
National Board Certification page!

It is difficult to put into words how I feel about the process of National Board. It was the most challenging, rewarding, exhausting and eye-opening experience of my professional career. I would do it all again in a second. There is nothing in the world like seeing the words on your computer screen: Congratulations! You are a National Board Certified Teacher! It was an intense year for me and my family. I was pregnant while I was going through the process. I mailed my portfolio a month before I had my second daughter and took my assessment center tests when my baby girl was 6 weeks old. I was so fortunate to certify in one year, in a process that takes the majority 2 or 3 years to complete. I was an assessor for National Board for 3 summers before attempting the progress. That was an amazing experience also! I believe it helped me deeply understand the purpose and goals of National Board Certification. I would encourage any teacher to do it! I was looking forward to assessing last year as an NBCT but they moved ECGEN scoring out of Oklahoma. This year (2008), it has moved back to Tulsa but I have decided to spend the summer with my girls and working on my new curriculum for my students. I may consider returning to scoring next summer. If you have the opportunity, it is an experience of a lifetime... especially if you are considering going through the process! There are many resources available online to help in the journey. I am listing a few below to help you get started.
